These thin-wall geodes are imported from Mexico and are usually lined with quartz crystals, calcite, or aragonite.
Every geode is unique inside. Sizes and shapes vary and range widely, most are around 2". The mineral and crystal formations can only be discovered when cracked open or cut with a rock saw. The size and formation of crystals, the different colors, and variety of minerals make each geode special.
To crack open your geode:
Set the geode on the concrete, place the chisel in the middle, and tap it very gently a few times with the hammer. Turn the geode a quarter turn and do this again. Continue scoring along the circumference of the geode until you see a crack form all the way around, then pull the two halves apart.
